From the schools' beginning more than 30 years ago, the Arts have always
been fundamental to the schools' philosophy. Drama, visual arts, literature
and other forms of art are at the core of the curriculum: poetic rhymes
in the circle hour, spontaneous puppet shows, reading and drama groups,
and studio art. The Arts tap into a myriad of one's intellectual and emotional
capabilities and stimulate one's creative drive. Through art practice children
investigate natural forms and their connection with other disciplines such
as architecture, science and even mathematics.
Experienced teachers trained in Fine Arts and Art History coordinate the art techniques,
which vary from pen and ink drawings to painting, printing and batiking. The
environment during open and structured art classes is free and unintimidating and artistic
merit is recognized in each child.
